Sama is a yoga/meditation teacher, therapist and the founder of bhuti, an eco wellbeing escape + members club in Richmond, London.
‘bhuti’ was founded in 2016 to offer a place to find your ‘inner bhuti’ through connection: with others, with yourself and through yoga/fitness, therapies, courses and a plant based cafe.
Sama has been practicing yoga for almost 20 years and learnt meditation in 2008. Being a mum of two she juggled a career in hospitality, creating and operating a boutique hotel and now Member’s Club, Bingham Riverhouse in London for many years. Stress caused to her to find solace in yoga and meditation and following family and personal history of ill-health including addiction. Loving the benefits she re-trained to be a yoga teacher/therapist in 2013. Driven by the desire to share the life changing, (life saving even) benefits of yoga, through its many practices for mind, body and spirit she created a space that is a sanctuary and antidote to the modern western lifestyle known to often be the cause for the increase in stress-related diseases, and mental health conditions.
Sama’s teaching reflects her experience that there is a form of yoga for everyone and that it will transform your life in every way. Whether it be appreciating the spiritual philosophy of oneness, mindfulness/meditation, breathwork, chanting or a more physical class, there is myriad of ways in, and her intention is to share this with as many as possible to help people come back to their truth, and find peace and joy in that.
“I was the shy anxious fat kid at school, who couldn’t even do a forward roll let alone a handstand and definitely not sing. When my dad died suddenly when I was 12 it was as though the lights went out. We all have periods in our lives when suffering seems insurmountable – how we get through it or don’t fascinates me and I want to help people find the light when surrounded by darkness.” - Sama
She teaches group classes (slow mindful vinyasa flows accompanied by a soothing/uplifting soundtrack, Iyengar inspired or therapeutic (restorative/yin/nidra classes), always trying to make it fun and accessible. Leads Kirtan (chanting) and meditation.
As well as at bhuti and in private clients’ homes she teaches in corporate settings, retreats, festivals, events and community/charity projects.
