Vinyasa Yoga L2-3

This class is taught by:

Tim Sibley

I am an accomplished yogi, personal trainer, fitness consultant and master trainer for the chi ball method.

My personal style is to work closely with individuals to encourage exploration of flexibility and release.

Drawing on my extensive knowledge, I use yoga postures (asanas) and breath work (pranayama) to open the body’s structure, dissolving deeply held tensions and stress, promoting and grounding the natural energy of the body and encouraging a deep sense of relaxation and well being.

I strongly believes that the practise of yoga will enhance the life and well being of all.

Charlie Merton

Charlie originally trained as a musician, playing trumpet and piano from a young age, she attained a Bachelor of Music in 2004 she subsequently completed her Masters in Music Therapy and now teaches yoga & works as a music therapist alongside leading regular Gong Ceremonies at some of the leading yoga studios in London. Charlie began playing with yoga as a child with her friend who was Hindu whose mother was a yoga teacher. Years later, she rediscovered yoga in 2001 whilst at university, she began teaching in 2011 after she travelled to Northern India to do her yoga teacher training with Sivananda in traditional hatha yoga and here in began her formal training in sacred sound. As her yoga practice evolved along with her knowledge and experience as a crystal and sound healer, she became more and more aware of how yoga and healing practices were interconnected and interrelated, a combined practice becoming a fundamental part of her own healing journey as well as empowering others through healing and yoga. As a size14 yoga teacher, she is adept at making the practice accessible for all shapes and sizes and teaches workshops for bigger bodies.

Through her experience as a trumpet player, Charlie has had a strong relationship with breath and importance of breathing since she was 8 years old, so it's not surprising that her yoga classes pay particular attention to the experience of breath and body with time taken in each class, to breathe and deepen the powerful connection to breath.
Charlie dynamic classes are influenced by her own practice of Dharma Mittra, Jivamukti, Iyengar yoga and Kundalini yoga. She teaches alignment based strong flow and dynamic asana, she is a certified Yin teacher having trained with Norman Blair & Sarah Powers and a Restorative Teacher through her study with Judith Lasater. She furthered her knowledge of sacred sound with Anne Malone and studied the power of the Gong with world renowned Gong Masters Don Conreaux and Aidan McIntyre and runs gong baths monthly around London. Charlie first experienced the power of the Gong in 2007 through her practice of Kundalini yoga and was amazed by the profound healing qualities that the gong possess and felt a strong desire to help spread the healing power of sound and the gong and is currently completing her Kundalini teacher training through Karam Kriya.

Charlie Merton MA (Music Therapy)

Vinyasa means a gradual progression or a step-by-step approach that systematically and appropriately takes a student from one point and safely lands them at the next point. It is sometimes described as the “breathing system,” or the union of breath and movement that make up the steps.

The word vinyasa has been popularized and is now used in many yoga classes to describe the connection of one pose to the next, as in the Sun Salutation that you described. It is now a commonly used “shorthand” in many flow classes.
